Have you ever thought that the sunflower was once a lovely girl named Clythie? The myth goes that Apollo, the Olympian god of the sun and light, ignored Clythie and refused to return her love. The poor girl would stare at the sun all day long, waiting for a glimpse of her love. Forever hopeful, she turned her face to the East in the morning and looked to the West at night.
